The new TAPA-A certified warehouse will provide over 16,500 m2 of storage space and is scheduled to take up operations in the middle of the year.
On March 23, 2018, cargo-partner celebrated the symbolic topping-out of its iLogistics Center in Sofia, Bulgaria. In June, the info-logistics provider will move its Bulgarian headquarters to the new location. The main hall will contain over 22,000 pallet spaces, total storage space will amount to 16,500 m2, and the office facilities will provide workplaces for more than 130 employees on an area of 2,000 m2. The project was led by the construction company Jung in cooperation with the architectural firm Int Arh. The iLogistics Center is TAPA-A certified and equipped with a modern access control system as well as LED lighting throughout the entire facility. The opening will take place in two stages: The office building and part of the hall will open in June, and the remaining areas of the logistics complex as well as all external areas will be accessible by the end of July.
The location was strategically selected in the city to provide optimal convenience for clients and employees. The exact address is 44A Vasil Zlatatrov Street, near the metro station Sofiiska Sveta Gora and the motorway. The proximity to Sofia Airport is a significant advantage, as airfreight is the most important business segment for cargo-partner in Bulgaria. In addition, the railway connection provides the possibility of unloading goods directly from the train into the warehouse.
The roof topping-out ceremony was organized by the construction company Jung. During the event, Jung’s CEO Nikolay Penev thanked all construction workers for their efforts and said that he was very happy with the final result. Anton Stoykov, Managing Director of cargo-partner in Bulgaria, also expressed his appreciation to all who contributed to the construction of the new building. The guests of the ceremony were invited to a special tour from the ground floor to the roof top of the new building. The tour ended on the terrace, which will serve as a recreation area for employees. At the occasion of the topping-out ceremony, Anton Stoykov noted: “The year 2018 is a significant one for us – not just because our staff is moving to a new building, but also because we celebrate the 15-year anniversary of cargo-partner in Bulgaria.” During these past 15 years, the company has steadily grown by about 35% annually, developing its service offering and expanding its market share in the country.
The cargo-partner group celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Established in 1983 as an airfreight specialist in Vienna, the company now has 130 branches around the world and offers a comprehensive portfolio of air, sea, road, rail transport, warehousing and supply chain management solutions. In recent years, cargo-partner has placed special focus on the strategic expansion of its worldwide warehouse capacities. Beside the iLogistics Center in Bulgaria, other significant recent investments include the iLogistics Center at the company headquarters near Vienna Airport with a total area of over 12,200 m2 (opening in fall 2018), the expansion of the Logistics Center in Dunajska Streda, Slovakia (expansion from 7,200 to 14,200 m2 completed in 2017, further expansion by 4,000 m2 to be completed by the end of 2018) as well as new warehouses in Hamburg (4,900 m2, opened in 2017), Clarksville, TN and Chicago, IL (14,000 m2 each, opened in 2017), Ljubljana (25,000 m2, opening in summer 2019), and Hong Kong (3,000 m2, opening in winter 2018).
